The end of summer is approaching and many people are trying to make the most of it. The kids go back to school soon which for many parents is a desperately needed switch of gears back into their normal routines. Even so, many people are planning their family vacations for the end of summer. Some go to the beach, many pick an exciting location and get away for a week or a long weekend. When trying to make all of these decisions one has to ask oneself many questions. You want to make the most out of your vacation while still having the best time possible. Here's how.

1.  Pick somewhere that everyone can have fun. Is it age appropriate? There is nothing worse than taking a vacation and then not enjoying it. If you go to well known Disney World, is it old enough for your kids? Can they go on the rides or will be you stuck riding in the teacups over and over again? If you get a cottage somewhere is it in a place where there are other children to play with or will you be the one source of entertainment for your child. You want to be able to relax as well.

2. Is it worth the money? One thing one has to consider when choosing a vacation destination is will it be worth the money in the long run. Many people choose vacations that they want to go on but then their children don't fully appreciate. Often times if your child isn't old enough to remember it, then you can't get what you want to out of it. Going to Napa might not be a good idea since you can't bring your kids to all of those wine tastings you've always wanted to go on. Also going to Paris might not be a good idea either since most children would have no desire to see some incredible architecture or paintings. If they would complain about seeing old buildings and churches all day, they are probably too young to travel to Paris. The same goes for most European cities.

3. Is a cruise a better option? Many people find that going on a cruise is a more affordable way to keep everyone happy on vacation. There is so much to do for almost all age groups. There are outdoor activities, indoor activities, 4g internet access to keep your teenager content and able to check face book. You get to enjoy your vacation as much as your kids do seeing as there isn't really anywhere for them to escape to which means you don't have to be on kid- duty the whole time. Relax by the pool, stop by the beach when the boat lands and have your meals taken care of.

4. Is a road trip a good idea? Some people opt to visit family in another part of the United States at the end of the summer. What is the best way to do this? Though a plane is simpler, plane fare for a full family get very pricey. Sometimes it is more affordable and more fun to take a road trip with the family. I highly suggest investing in some mobile broadband for this kind of trip. You can drive through lots of places, taking the kids sight seeing while getting where you're going. A drive from LA to San Antonio Texas could be long though and even the most exciting of parents couldn't keep their kids occupied the whole time. That's when you bust out the computer with 4g wireless internet. They can play games on the computer and they can also watch movies online. This way for part of the drive they are out of your hair and also keeping quiet. Your teenager will also be thrilled that you went for the wireless internet so they can talk on aim to all of their friend. You've got to pick your battles parents, and this one isn't one of them, especially on a long drive.
