If there's one thing the world needs more of it's freedom. For a variety of reasons though, it seems to be increasingly elusive to obtain as time goes on. The internet is a perfect example of this in terms of both content and technology. In the past, the internet was more free but now politicians are always trying to put restrictions on content. Also, traditional wired broadband connections are more restricting than you might think in terms of where they allow you to browse from. Fortunately, 4G internet service is bucking the trend and offering more freedom than was previously possible.

A lot of people signed up for broadband services like cable and DSL forget how constricting those two connections really are. You're home has to be located within a certain distance from their infrastructures and you can only use the internet as far as a wire will let you, which isn't very far at all. Essentially, you're going to have to settle for using your connection at home. Wifi home networking tries to put a band aid on the solution, but ultimately you'd still be restricted to home usage. It all boils down to wires being inherently restricting. What's needed is a true wireless internet solution, which Wifi can't provide because it relies on a wired connection in the background.

The same solution that was used for telephone lines can be used for internet connections too: cellular technology. Previously, cellular technology only worked with mobile phones, but now the equipment can be used for internet connections too. It started with 3G service, but that didn't turn out to be as successful as it could have been because of its speed limitations. The next evolution, 4G, is much better suited for the task of delivering modern internet services to its subscribers. In fact, standard cable and DSL connection often finish second to that revolutionary option, which surprises most people. Thus, even if you were to stay home all the time with your new connection it would still be a worthy upgrade.

The major selling point for 4G though is the fact that it can be used all over your city, and even beyond. You won't have to be stuck using the internet in your room at home. You could take it with you in your backyard or across town to a scenic park. You would even be able to use it on the way over there in your car. Essentially, anywhere you can use your cell phone you'd be able to use your new internet connection.

Unfortunately, that last claim is only true if you also sign up for a combination plan. 4G is still an expanding technology and therefore it's only available in certain areas. It may cover your entire city, or it may not. If your city has spotty coverage, you would benefit from signing up for a plan that falls back to using the 3G network whenever you lose signal to the new network. Although your connection would be slower in those problem areas, you'd still have the freedom of being able to use the internet anywhere you want.
