Within the last decade, Americans have become much more political than they were in the past. The terrorist actions that shook the nation in 2001 and killed thousands of innocent people helped mobilize the country politically as Americans began to realize just how important politics were. Within more recent years, America elected its first black President, President Obama, and a third political party, the Tea party, gained a significant amount of support for the first time in a long time. There are so many different political pundits on television and everywhere else these days that Americans are constantly being bombarded with all kinds of political information and it can become difficult to sort things out. Fortunately though, thanks to wireless internet Americans can get access to all kinds of information about things that are happening in Washington D.C. and things that happen with elections.

Even though many Americans don’t trust politicians, it’s still really important to know what politicians are saying to the general public. It’s no longer difficult to do that at all because many politicians have created Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as blogs and personal websites. The politicians behind all of those websites are hoping to gain support from maintaining close ties to the electorate, just as President Obama did so successfully in 2007 and 2008 when he was running for office. It’s easy for everyone to keep up with information posted by many of their politicians because Americans simply need to have wireless internet access, a smartphone or laptop, and Facebook or Twitter accounts. Once you have those things, you can simply "follow" politicians on Twitter or become a "fan" of them on Facebook, and you’ll get all kinds of updates from those politicians without having to lift a finger to do any research.

With a fast wireless internet connection, you can also keep up with the political scene by reading newspaper articles or watching TV segments. In order to really watch TV segments online, you’ll need to make sure you have a fast connection, such as the kind that is provided by the latest fourth generation (4G) service. That way, you can watch videos without having to worry about running into problems due to a slow connection. Since every journalist and every newspaper or news network have their own biases, it’s best to try to follow politics by reading from different sources. If you get your political news from just one source, then it’s bound to lean one way, which means you won’t ever bet the full story or understand the full political picture. In the past, Americans only had a few different news outlets that provided them with their political news, and that meant that every journalist had a lot of power to sway elections. These days, however, the quality of journalism is higher and there are so many different sources of political information online, that many more voices can be heard. Just make sure that if you rely on your wireless internet access to get your political news, you check to see who is behind the sources you read and watch. Otherwise someone may be providing misinformation to try to sway your opinion.
