Super Size Me (2004)-It is a reality that most Americans do not want to face: we are an incredibly unhealthy society. Documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock attempts to show just how bad are eating habits are in particular, by going on a diet solely consisting of McDonalds's for one month. A doctor monitors him threw the whole process, and we get to see the toll that this diet actually takes on the human body. It is a times gross and hard to watch, but it is also important and eye-opening. You may never want another Big Mac after seeing this documentary.

March of the Penguins (2005)-This spectacular film that follows the annual trip Antarctica's Empire penguins make to their breeding ground captured the heart of critics and audiences everywhere. It is beautifully shot and captures the harsh terrain of Antarctica in a way that no film before it was able to do it. Most importantly, however, it tells a unique story of a species that must survive in such an environment, and truly captures that essence of these creatures. From the way that both mother and father care for the egg, to the lengths that an adult penguin will go to in order to protect the young, it is incredibly moving and exhilarating.

The September Issue (2009)- A hit last year in theaters, this fashion documentary shows the process of putting together the always important September issue at Vogue magazine. The film is shot during the making of the September 2007 issue, and while it may be about the world of fashion, it is not without its depth. What makes this documentary so interesting is the relationship between Vogue's notorious editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, and the decidedly more congenial and incredibly talented creative director, Grace Coddington. It is truly a captivating look at inner workings of the world's most influential fashion magazine.
