Laughter is sometimes all you need to create a smile or make a bad day better. After a long day at work or school, people in California like to come home, relax and turn on their satellite TV. While some enjoy reality TV or the news, most just want a good laugh. Popular comedies today include shows like 30 Rock, The Office, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Comedies have been a staple of American television since Lucille Balle brought us I Love Lucy.

Some of California's funniest sitcoms are available in high definition on satellite television. Classics such as Saved By The Bell, Friends, Seinfeld, and Cheers are being refurbished to show on HD TV. A new generation of television viewers are being introduced to classic sitcoms like The Cosby Show while old fans are able to appreciate seeing them the first time in picture perfect quality on high definition.

Satellite TV appreciates the importance of comedy shows. Those growing up in the 80s remember such shows as The Cosby Show, Alf, and Who's the Boss. These were family friendly comedies that the entire family could enjoy watching. Now a days it's more difficult to find one show that the whole family can watch together. With all the options out there, at any given time there could be multiple options. Every member of the family could wish to watch something different.

During the 80s and 90s, there was less to choose from when it came to primetime television. Not everyone had cable, so the main networks of ABC, NBC, Fox, and CBS controlled the airwaves. In today's television the available options sometimes seem quite overwhelming. Not only are you able to choose from sitcoms, but also movies, news, reality TV, and documentaries. Satellite TV provides classic family sitcoms on such networks as TBS, Nick at Nite, and ABC Family.

Everyone across the United States enjoys a great comedy on their satellite TV. Over the decades, the jokes and sketches have changed but the need to laugh has remained the same. Some jokes have turned more perverse and dirty, as the public audience has accepted television with a racier plotline. Ricky and Lucy's sex life was never discussed in I Love Lucy. Sitcoms in the 50s and 60s had the married couple sleep in separate beds.

Today's comedies not only have couples sleeping in the same bed, but their sex lives are discussed and joked about in front of the American audience. Shows like Desperate Housewives addresses such issues as affairs, gay relationships, and sexual promiscuity, and adds a twist to it in order to show it in a comedic light.

High definition provides an another attribute to comedies. Ugly Betty's colorful outfits and clothes in the fashion magazine Mode is exemplified on HD TV. Part of the flare of Ugly Betty is her ridiculous outfits she wears to work at the fashion magazine. Showing these colors and clothes in HD adds more ridicule to the hilarity of her clothes. Everyone learns to love Betty with her bravery and simultaneous bad taste with regard to clothes and fashion.
