Philadelphia (1993)- Hanks won an Oscar for his heartbreaking portrayal of Andrew Beckett, an HIV positive lawyer who is fired by his firm. Knowing that his condition was the catalyst that caused his dismissal, he takes his former employers to court and ultimately fights for the justice of all people living with HIV. It is an extremely powerful and important film that she be on everyone's must-see list.

Forrest Gump (1994)- This incredible and well-loved film won Hanks another Best Actor Oscar. As Forrest Gump, a man with a low IQ but an incredible amount of heart, Hanks was captivating and extremely touching. Saving Private Ryan (1998)- An epic World War II film from legendary director Steven Spielberg, about a group of US soldiers who must rescue Private James Francis Ryan after all his brothers have been killed in action. Charlie Wilson's War (2007)- This is a fantastic political film about the true story of Texas congressman Charlie Wilson's dealings in Afghanistan that ultimately led to some dire consequences.
