It is truly a contemporary trend that cartoons are now more interested in entertaining adults with clever satire than just focusing on regular afternoon viewing for children and teenagers. And while certain adults might feel that the messages in programs like "The Simpsons" and "South Park" are a bit crass, the fact remains that these programs are actually interested in talking about the world today and doing a surprisingly timely and well-written form of satire. In fact, shows like "South Park" offer something for everyone. If you just want to laugh at foul-mouthed elementary students, it is fun to sit down and watch an episode of "South Park," but for those who are interested in hearing commentary about the current world of pop culture and politics, there is a little something more that can be gained from watching "South Park" on satellite tv.

Unlike "The Simpsons," which fans seem to agree has gone a bit downhill recently with its writing, "South Park" has managed to stay a bit fiery and relevant. Whether it is dealing with the ego of Kanye West or addressing the latest political crisis, you can always count on the latest episode of "South Park" to have an opinion on just about anything. And no one is safe from the pointed and sometimes rude satire, but at the same time, those who are watching these popular four fourth graders on satellite tv can laugh along at the jokes without quite realizing what is going on. "South Park" may have spawned a couple of different movies as well as a whole lot of merchandise, but the focus and the true value of the franchise is still the fact that it can reliably deliver hilarious and sometimes poignant commentary on a weekly basis.

Most shows on satellite tv tend to get a little bit worse or less edgy as time wears on, but somehow, this has not been the case with "South Park." Whether it is a truly innovative crew of writers or something else, the show manages to keep entertaining every time there is a new season. And somehow, it manages to stay on top of current events without getting less funny if you happen to be tuning into something older. For every commentary on the perils of fame or our society, there is also something that's just plain funny or lowbrow.

And cartoons like "South Park" on satellite tv are able to say things that other sitcoms and even HBO dramatic series cannot, because the people saying these things aren't real. Because they are cartoons, the characters of "South Park" are able to entertain in their fantasy world while still saying some seriously interesting things about what's going on in the world today. And after all, if you just want to sit down and watch a cartoon that is designed to entertain adults who are interested in everything from off-color jokes to political commentary, "South Park" manages to deliver on all fronts, year after year.

Through the latest direct tv offer or with direct tv business, getting "South Park" and all of your other favorite shows has never been more affordable.
