No matter how large your family is, satellite television provides packages and channels to fit every family member's needs. Not only do you receive over 200 channels, but there are also add-ons that make the service even more complete. Given that satellite TV is inexpensive and installation is usually free, there is no reason to continue depriving your family of true entertainment.

Let's take care of dad first. What does any meat and potato-loving man of the house need? Football, baseball and basketball games. And lots of them. But whatever his sport of choice is, it can be found on satellite. All the major leagues have their own networks. Then, there are the multiple ESPN and FSN channels. Not to mention the local broadcast stations that cover games. However, if there's still a major league game dad can't find on those channels, there are packages like the NFL Sunday Ticket and MLB Extra Innings that provide extra game coverage each week. If that isn't enough, take into account these networks: Golf Channel, Tennis Channel and Speed Channel. That just about covers all the bases, but there are also specialty networks, such as the YES Network, which covers all the New York Yankees games. Sports fan? Check.

Next, it's on to mom. So, she's a movie buff? Not a problem. Of course, she will still have access to all those old cable channels that show movies on a part-time basis, like TBS and USA. With satellite TV, you will be adding seven HBO, nine Showtime, 12 Starz and three Cinemax channels. In addition to those premium channels - some of which you will be required to pay extra for - she will be able to enjoy eight channels of the Encore network. These channels have a variety of themes, such as action and mystery. As if that wasn't enough, there are about ten other specialty movie networks, including the Sundance Channel and Turner Classic Movies. So, tell mom she can go ahead and cancel her Netflix subscription and rip up her Blockbuster card.

While small children aren't very hard to please when it comes to television, they, too, are given plenty of options. Boomerang, Cartoon Network, Toon Disney and Nickelodeon takes care of all their cartoon needs. Then, they've got Disney and Discovery kids, as well as pre-school oriented networks like PBS Kids Sprout and Noggin. Adolescents and teens will enjoy watching all their favorite reality shows - that's about all those age groups watch these days - in HD. That's right. MTV, VH1, Bravo and TLC are all available in high resolution. They'll be able to see what the 20-somethings on The Real World really look like close up.

In addition to those offerings for each family member, your service comes with two complimentary upgrades. With a mail-in rebate or other promotion, most satellite companies are providing DVR equipment for free. DVR allows you to record shows with the click of a button and stores them without the need of a VHS tape. The second upgrade you get is a multitude of radio channels. There are times when nothing but music will do. Thankfully, Sonic Tap, which provides the channels to satellite TV providers, allows you to select a station that will fit any mood or setting you can imagine.

Look for these upgrades and more from your local directv satellite provider. You can search around but you won't find another provider that can beat directv deals.
